Seriously! I effing love this cozy college town! And soon the majority of the students will be gone and the locals, such as myself, will have the run of the place. Huzzah! There is student-free karaoke in my future.
Discovered some new date awesomeness and had a lovely time with the dude who wrote this. Three megagreat things:
1. Tea houses are badass chill places to sip and talk. Contrary to coffee houses, which tend to be are weird-vibed, wired coffices, especially around finals time. I remember when I lived in Brooklyn, a friend from Costa Rica came to visit me. We went to a nearby coffee shop at about 8 p.m. He took one look at all the faces bathed in the glow of monitors and declared, “Geeks!” with a good-natured mixture of pity and revulsion that only a Tico can have when confronted with people who aren’t tranquilo. I concur.
2. After a day of sitting at a desk, dates that involve walking (particularly by a lake) and/or biking, etc., are SO nice for your body and brain. Do it! Dinner and a movie is bad for your lower back! Ladies, find cute but sensible shoes for this. And bring a jacket.
3. A good hug is the best way to end a date, in my newly updated opinion. Not just an off-the-cuff, obligatory hug. A freaking embrace-the way hugs were meant to be. Heart-to-heart. There should be more of these in life. Have you hugged anyone today?
